Public data usually stops just short of the people it’s about. We build the final stretch.

The Final Stretch Project is a free, open-source project building iOS apps that carry public data the rest of the way — to the people whose lives it describes.

Illustration — you ask in your words, it answers in them too.

The problem

Governments and public institutions publish enormous amounts of data: clinical trials, safety recalls, inspection records, court dockets. Nearly all of it is published for institutions — researchers, regulators, professionals — not for the people it’s actually about.

The information exists. The last stretch to the person who needs it doesn’t. That last stretch is what we build: apps that meet people where they are, in the words they’d actually use, at the moment they need to know.

Non-negotiable

Our commitments

These aren’t policies we might revisit. They’re the reason the project exists.

Free

No purchase price, no in-app purchases, no paid tiers, no “pro” features. Everyone gets the whole app.

No advertising

Ever. No ads, and no analytics that exist to sell you to someone else.

No data collection

What you type stays on your phone. Our apps have no accounts, no logins, and no servers of our own — your queries go directly from your device to the public source.

No interested funding

We take no money from anyone with a stake in what you’re shown. For health apps, that means no trial sponsors, no recruitment firms, no pharmaceutical companies.

The test every feature must pass

Does this move the data closer to the person, or move the person closer to the data?

A search form that requires knowing the right medical term fails the test. Accepting what someone would actually say, and translating it, passes. If a feature only makes sense to someone who already understands the source dataset, it’s the wrong feature.

Open source, all the way down

Everything we ship will be open source under the Apache 2.0 license. You’ll be able to read every line of code that runs on your phone — and verify for yourself that it does what we say and nothing else.

Privacy claims you can’t inspect are just marketing. Ours will be checkable.

We’re at github.com/finalstretch. The app repositories are private while the apps are in testing and will open once the apps land on the App Store.

Who builds this

Two siblings, one rule

The Final Stretch Project is built by two sibling developers, Ruhi and Reeha. Each app has one owner, and no change ships on the owner’s own say-so — every change is reviewed and approved before it merges, starting with the sibling who didn’t write it.

A signed agreement locks in the commitments above: free forever, no advertising, no data collection, no interested funding. There are no investors, no sponsors, and nothing for sale.

When the apps reach the App Store, the code behind them will be published under the Apache 2.0 license — so none of this will have to be taken on faith.
